  1. What is file sharing?
File sharing is a way to distribute information over the web. It could be done privately or publicly. Computer data in a network can be shared with various levels of access privilege. Some users may have more access to privilege than others such as the main administrator. It allows a number of people to use or work on the same file. Not only can files be shared over a network but through worldwide web-based hyperlinked documents and the use of P2P networking.
  1. What is P2P File sharing?
Peer-to-peer file sharing is sharing digital content like multimedia through a direct connection between two peers or nodes over a P2P network. There is a seed which is the peer that which hosts the file and then there is the leech which is the peer who downloads it. P2P file sharing allows users to access media files. It is a form of illegal copying of digital music, movies and video Games (Pfanner, 2009).
  1. What are some examples of P2P file sharing?
Bit Torrent is an example of P2P file sharing. According to The BitTorrent Effect,"BitTorrent lets users quickly upload and download enormous amounts of data, files that are hundreds or thousands of times bigger than a single MP3." It allows data and tv shows to be steamed at any time and at no cost. " If any one of them misses their favorite TV show, no worries. Surely someone has posted it as a "torrent." As for movies, if you can find it at Blockbuster, you can probably find it online somewhere – and use BitTorrent to suck it down."It's more convenient for people who want to watch these tv shows and movies but hurts the media industry because now people aren't paying to watch.
